Update!

Journal Entry: Tue May 6, 2008, 11:57 AM
The other night was the first night with everybody home. Albeit the kids weren't there till bed-time, but we all slept in our own rooms, in our own beds.

It's starting to feel a little more like a home, but I can't escape the camp feeling. It feels a lot like when I used to go to camp, stay in a cabin, unfamiliar smells, a fireplace, it's cold, the heater takes a while to warm up. I'm not complaining. The heat works fine, we're just still trying to figure out timing and remember we HAVE a heater that works. Case-in-point, the heater was accidentally left on during the day, and the upstairs got WAY too hot, so we turned on the AC... which got left on all night... We're adjusting.

The move isn't quite done, we still have some things at the old apartment, and it's still pretty messy over there. I'm taking a break from that for the next day or 3 because I am exhausted. Even with all the great help I had, I am sooooo tired. I can't remember the last time my body was this tired, it feels like I need to sleep for a whole day- but I got stuff to do!

So, Thursday was a bust for getting much done, David had a little episode during recovery [he had knee surgery for those of you who didn't know] that was a little scary, but he's just fine now. We didn't leave the doctors till 6pm, and I stuck around to make sure he was ok and get him things. Friday was a bust 'cause I was exhausted and just didn't get shit done. I came home early because David was having a little trouble keeping track of the cats, assisting the cable guy (who was apparently very nice and helpful in return), and his bandae was falling off... I rushed home to help find the cat because there was a good chance he was outside, and there was no way David could get him. I took a nap, then later went to the old apartment.

Court came to help and rescue me and we had dinner that evening. Went back, and was just overwhelmed. I should have started taking apart the bunkbed, or something, but the kids room was far from done. They'd pakced MOST of their toys, but there were a lot of things forgotten, and their computers were still there and hooked up (not their fault) and the desks were in the way.

I have figured out that I have some form of anxiety, and all this plus being tired was bringing it all out. I fed the fish and locked the place up.

So Saturday rolled around and we had till 3pm. before we needed to get the truck. David and I took a while to get ready and get to the old place - crutches + exhaustion + clothing in several locations = slow going. Also, David HAS to eat before he can take his pain meds.

So, we got there, started to get things packed and ready, and realised there was NO WAY things would be where I wanted them before help arrived.

Speaking of help arriving, all our help needed a ride TO help, so we had to get going to get them. Scott was a HUGE help, he could see I was still out of it, and Dave was in a Vicodine haze part of the time, so he took over telling people what to do. He also helped secure the belongings inthe truck so they wouldn't fall. Court bought the twine to do so, Jeff carried heavy crap, and his girlfriend May helped do some cleaning as well as some hauling of things that the guys would let her take. She also bought a bag of goodies for the kids who had a sleep-over that night.

Oi, kids. I don't regret letting them have the sleep-over their first night at the house. They had a good time, and it was nice to take the other children off their parent's hands for a little bit for once- they have Al and Will over a lot of the time and I think they deserve the same favor. As usual, Chamous (I'm probably spelling it wrong) was pretty darned good and warning the other kids that they might get in trouble for things. The other child I met for the first time, Aaron. He seemed nice enough, I didn't really speak with any of them much that night. He had a hard time with all the rough-housing though. He reminded me of Alisdair when he's in a bad mood and even the smallest pain is too big for him. I'd like to see if he's the same after a good nights sleep. All the children got 5 hours tops, if that.

They were wild, nutty, VERY noisy, and kinda messy- could have been worse. It was mostly the inconsideration of spilt soda that bothered me- they didn't even try to clean it up, or tell an adult... but they kept it off the carpet so I'm not terribly angry.

Sunday morning, I had to be up asap to get some more moving done before we took the truck back. Got to the new place at 7:30am and started in on the desk, then the bunk bed. I managed to get my drafting table, the kids last desk, and the bunkbed before Court came over - she helped me and we managed to get the office chairs, the rest of the drawers for the dresser, my great-grandma's book shelf, and the cat's scratching post. Also, thanks to her help, we unloaded these things in a half hour, and got the truck back just in time.

I should be able to get the rest of our things by car no problem. Then it's just a matter of switching the bunk bed with the loft beds over at Michelle's. She said she'll get a truck for that... Then we pay off some debts, and start buying furniture. We need to even out the kids stuff- currently they've split their belongings with eachother, there was no reason to get 2 of any furniture when they had one room. We need a bed frame and probably a box-spring for our bed.

Ugh... need, need, need... going to be checking out Craig's List for some of this stuff.

Yesterday was first day driving to work from the new place and back again- my commute hasn't been shortened considerably time-wise, but it has been distance-wise.

Me'n Court bought a few things for the house. I was exhausted by the time we got home.

Eventually we'll be all done and I can get back to my excuse being that I'm just lazy!
